Your city doesn’t need Christians. Let me explain.

Your city doesn’t need Christians who just sit in pews or chairs on Sunday, amen at the right times and then leave their Christian “mask” at home on Monday morning. Your city doesn’t need people who embrace a Christianity-lite that does little more than produce evidence for society’s claim that religion is hollow and dead.

Your city doesn’t need Christians. It needs Disciples–people who wholly follow the whole way of Jesus. Why? Because, when you get enough disciples together, they will make a difference that will cause the city to take notice.

So, how can we be better disciples ourselves and inspire others to do the same? In this episode (which is a recording of a sermon that I preached at my church), I set out 6 Disciplines (definition: disciplines are like habits, but with superpowers) of a Disciple and give practical tips and encouragement designed to move people to the next level in their walk with Christ. Here are those disciplines:

  1. Read
  2. Pray
  3. Assemble
  4. Serve
  5. Give
  6. Make Disciples

So, how do you and your church encourage people to be disciples rather than just Christians? Let us know in the comments or by emailing us at
